RED FLAGS, BLACK SQUARES

Red Flags, Black Squares was a postmodern devised text. Using Bogart's question, anchor and structure, it was decided that the question would be hurricanes and the anchor would be Hurricane Katrina. From there I chose the structure of a hurricane passing over a city to influence what became the movements of the piece. Cliches for each movement were chosen to aid in informing the work. Then, using postmodern ideas such as fragmentation, ghosting, and disrupting metanarratives, the work was built from the ground up with the collaborative help of the actors.
